Keith B. Brown from Memphis, Tennessee, is being hailed as one of the great interpreters of country blues music today. His mastery and knowledge of the Delta blues styles; ranging from Son house and Skip James to Bukka White, Robert Johnson and Fred McDowell has put him in the forefront of a small and important new generation of African-American Country blues artists. Brown's musical approach is to not only faithfully interpret this blues tradition, but as equally important, to enrich the tradition with his own personal "voice" and his own stories to tell within the tradition.

Brown says: "It is important for me to be faithful to the masters and creators of the music, at the same time, it is essential for me and the tradition to tell my own stories, just as they did when they were creating and defining the form. Storytelling is the fabric of the tradition itself, and in order for this music to continue to thrive and evolve, we must be

faithful to that traditionwe must tell our own stories."

Brown has not rested on his natural musical talent alone to bring him to the forefront of his field. He uses an array of "tools" including his Magna Cum Laude degree in History and music scholarship to inform and create a sound that has a fierce potency and unmistakable honesty rarely heard anymore. In its December 2002 issue, Living Blues Magazine proclaimed Brown's music to be of "riveting emotionalism, flawless musicianship and erudition." Brown's growing notoriety as an important artist has not only caught the eyes and ears of the music world. Brown is in demand by the Film industry as well. In 1998, filmmaker Glenn Marzano cast Brown as the great Son House in his Award-Winning short film, 'Stop Breakin' Down', about the life of blues legend, Robert Johnson.

And most recently Brown was picked by Martin Scorsese and Wim Wenders to star in the major motion picture "The Soul Of A Man". Brown portrays Skip James in the film that is currently garnering worldwide praise. The film was an "Official Selection" at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival where Brown and Wenders were invited to introduce the film. The movie and Brown's performance received a thundering, five-minute standing ovation at its conclusion. With the release of "The Soul Of A Man", Keith B. Brown is enjoying worldwide acclaim as a multi-talented, rising star of the blues.
